Parental Alienation
Theresa Godly’s short film beautifully depicts her own real-life situational shock when her son comes back from a holiday with a Disneyland Dad only to suddenly realise her only child wants nothing to do with her, his loving mother. Parental Alienation is a form of family violence and post-separation abuse. It is child abuse. Coercive control of children is a short-sighted tactic abusers use to hurt the safe parent - in this case, the mother. Parental alienation can be devastating but there is always hope that the child will eventually break free and see the whole situation with clarity.
